Pregnancy Loss Remembrance Day 2020
Today is Pregnancy Loss Remembrance Day! On October 15th, every year, we come together as a community to hold space, draw awareness to and above all, remember the little souls we carried!
A Little History..
Did you know that this actually started in 1988 when President Ronald Regan declared October as Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month? On October 25, 1988 he said…
“When a child loses his parent, they are called an orphan. When a spouse loses her or his partner, they are called a widow or widower. When parents lose their child, there isn’t a word to describe them. This month recognizes the loss so many parents experience across the United States and around the world. It is also meant to inform and provide resources for parents who have lost children due to miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy, stillbirths, birth defects, SIDS, and other causes.
Now, Therefore, I, Ronald Reagan, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim the month of October as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. I call upon the people of the United States to observe this month with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities.”
Then in 2002- Robyn Bear, Lisa Brown, and Tammy Novak began the movement to bring awareness to pregnancy and infant loss across the nation. Making October 15th the official Day of Remembrance. They are responsible for making it as big and as important of a day that it has become!
Next came the International Wave of Light encouraged those observing the day to light a candle at 7pm in order to create a wave of light across the world — and to honor pregnancy and infant loss.
You are a Mother!
Your baby may not be here to hold and snuggle, but you did not stop being a mother on the day they left your womb. The feelings we process after loss are complicated, difficult and so often, no one understands. Please know that your feelings are valid at any point! Whether it has been 10 minutes, 10 months or 10 years since your loss, you are entitled to the feelings that rise up inside you.
In order to begin to let go of the pain and take those gentle steps to healing, you need to work those feelings out!
As a way to give back to you on this special day, I have created a 10-page Healing Workbook to help guide you on your inner healing journey.
Through these pages you will have a chance to write your story, your experience. Something magical happens when we release the memory from our minds only and either put them on paper or say it out loud! That magical moment sparks a release trigger within our brains and that is were healing begins.
Use this workbook in your own time, at your own pace. Take your time with answering the prompts and come back to it if it is feeling like too much. You have the power to release & renew within you, this workbook is deigned to help awaken that power- To ignite the spark of strength and to remember your previous baby!
Sister, you so brave, so strong, so resilient!
XO,
Jenni June
Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
